Mr. Donal Whelan

Donal’s mastering career spans 35 years including 20 years mastering Indian film and non-film music. With a degree from the prestigious Tonmeister course at Surrey University and a decade in London mastering at Chop em Out and the Townhouse, he established his own facility, Hafod Mastering, in Wales in 2004. Since passing the chief engineer role to Gethin John in 2022, Donal has been focussing on running the business while working to constantly improve the sonics of the mastering studio and, in turn, the quality of their client’s masters.
