Dr. Pramod Chandorkar is a pioneering sound engineer, educator, and visionary whose career spans nearly three decades across all three major domains of sound engineering—Music Recording & Mixing, Sound Design, and Live Sound. A classically trained percussionist who transitioned from performing to working behind the console, he trained under his mentor, Mr. Suren Akolkar, in Pune, an experience that inspired his lifelong commitment to teaching. He is the Founder and Director of Soundideaz Studios (est. 2008) and Soundideaz Academy (est. 2010) in Andheri West, Mumbai, and serves as Program Director for the School of Music, Sound & Cinematics at Universal AI University, where he designed India's first industry-focused degree programs: a B.Tech in Sound Engineering and a B.A. in Music & Audio Production. Holding a Doctorate in Sound Recording with a specialization in Studio Technology from Robert de Soborn University, France, and serving as Honorary Chairman of the IRAA Awards from 2016-2019, Dr. Chandorkar's illustrious career includes a Zee Cine Award for Best Mix & Recording Engineer for Hum Tum (2005), an IRAA Award for Best Music Mix for "Shivoham" (Adipurush 2023), a Palm Sound & Light Award for Best FOH Mixing for Sonu Nigam Live in Concert (2012), and a Guinness World Record as Sound Engineer for the Largest Singing Lesson with Ricky Kej. His extensive portfolio spans iconic Bollywood films such as Veer Zaara, Sanju, Tanhaji, and Adipurush; web series including Breathe S1 and Black Widows; landmark albums with legends like Lata Mangeshkar, Sonu Nigam, and Ajay-Atul; international collaborations with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Chaka Khan, and Jermaine Jackson; and live sound mixing for India's most celebrated artists, currently mixing FOH for Rishab Sharma's Sitar for Mental Health India Tour 2026. A passionate educator guided by the philosophy "Unless I give it away, new knowledge would not come my way," Dr. Chandorkar continues to inspire the next generation of sound engineers and was recently honored as Chief Guest on Indian Idol Marathi for a special episode celebrating sound engineers.
